Summer summer, summertime! The heat is here as we are in the dog days of summer, that's for sure! But we are back in your inbox with some cool events and resources for our families this week.
As we have all seen the images and videos of the devastation that occurred in Texas over the July 4th weekend, residents and organizations around Acadiana are coming together this week to collect supplies, donations, and support for our neighbors in Texas. I have a list of local and national organizations who are accepting donations to help victims of the floods this past weekend. If you know of any others in the Acadiana area, please email me at mackidnewiberia@macaronikid.com so I can add them to our list. Please continue to keep these families in your prayers.
This may also be a good time to stock up on any items you feel necessary for hurricane season in your own home. Since we are only a little over a month into the official start of the season, it gives us the opportunity to make plans for evacuation efforts, stock up on batteries or canned good items, and make sure everyone in the family is aware of the plan in the case of a hurricane in our area.
