Over recent years, restaurants and shops throughout the Acadiana area have closed. We have lost a several local staples in New Iberia as well, including the theater, the bowling alley, and several restaurants. It seems that more restaurants and shops that locals have flocked to for years are slowly closing their doors forever due to changes and increases in our local economy.
Whether it be due to the lockdown from the pandemic, recent storm damage, or simply the rising costs of absolutely everything, families as well as our local businesses have all been feeling the pressure of inflation over the last couple of years from New Iberia to Morgan City.
This is one of the reasons we create our local community guides as an effort to support the small businesses that are locally owned and operated in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion parishes. We plan on continuing to create more guides throughout the year for our followers to support our small shops and businesses.

Another local organization also realizes the impact of rising costs is having on our economy and has created a group that meets once a month to network, mingle, and of course eat some of the delicious meals offered by local restaurants right here Iberia Parish.
The Greater Iberia Chamber has created a monthly supper club that gets together at a randomly selected location in Iberia Parish. They started this in June of 2023 and it has been such a hit they decided to continue this networking event into 2024. You do not have to be a member of the chamber as all are welcomed to meet up with the Iberia Chamber Supper Club at the restaurant choice of the month for a good meal and networking. Attendees are responsible for any purchases during these events but it gives you a chance to meet with other members of our local community.
Macaroni KID New Iberia wants to continue to support our local restaurants this year as well. We will update this article each month with the selected restaurant of the month and leave the list for locals to easily find the eatery of their choice so they can also show their support as well.
