December is just around the corner and this last week of November brings with it two holiday celebrations. Not only are we celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday but the celebration of Hanukkah begins this week on November 28th. Be sure to read all about how to play the game of dreidel and get a yummy recipe for latkes to try this week. Like we need any more food, right?
In both holidays, family traditions hold strong and are usually carried down from generation to generation. One of the things I have learned as I have gotten older is how important it is to create new traditions. For me, the holidays should not be a cookie cutter (pun intended) version of the same one we had the year before but rather more about creating space to celebrate each other, no matter how that may look for you.
Some families enjoy huge formal buffets while others may enjoy quiet, small dinners at home. Some enjoy the fanfare of busy parties during the holiday season while others may want to schedule that holiday vacation to decompress and rest from the rush of the last year. No one way is better than the other. No matter how you celebrate, just know that we are wishing you and your family the happiest Thanksgiving and Hanukkah celebration this week!
