We are fresh into the first week of this new year and I don't know about you, but I am excited to be done with the last one. As we enter the winter months, we are all looking for things to do in the area with the kids and it seems sometimes the events can be far and few between.
Macaroni KID New Iberia is here to serve our readers. We try to keep our calendar updated and as current as possible with events for all of our readers in Iberia, Vermilion, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes. 1.Winter Reading Challenge at Iberia Parish Libraries
1/1/22 through 1/31/22
Be sure to join in on the Winter Reading Challenge this month! Join with the community to be eligible for prizes this January. Help Iberia Parish reach 50,000 minutes read in just one month. The program is open to kids, teens, and adults. You must read for 600 minutes (10 hours) during the month of January to win a prize! You can register online or at one of the local branches in Iberia Parish. Click here for more info.
2. Abbeville Library - Winter Village Scene Craft

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Head over to the Abbeville Library for this special craft time with the kids. The kids get a chance to be creative and create a fun winter craft and story time at the Abbeville branch. This is great for homeschoolers or just a fun way to kick off Friday afternoon with the kids as they start the weekend.
3. Teche Area Festival and Farmers Market, Downtown New Iberia

7:00am to 11:00am
Get out and check out the local wares at the weekly Farmer's Market in downtown New Iberia. Vegetables, fruits, baked goods, herbs, plants, honey, eggs, meat, soaps, spices and sauces and more can be found each week at this local event.
4. Adult Take and Make Crafts at Iberia Parish Libraries
Why should the kids have all the fun? I love the take and makes at the local library and we have two branches offering them this week so be sure to check them out. All take and makes are given out on first come, first served basis. Check with your local branch to see if any of the crafts are still available from earlier this week too!

5. Wii Game Night - Loreauville Branch Teen Event

4:00pm to 6:00pm
Got teens? Well I do and they are always looking for something to do. This is a great event for them to get some "play" time and make friends. Must pre-register for this event so be sure to do it early as spots usually fill up quickly.
