We are celebrating the MLK Day of Service this week and as a homeschooling family, we are always on the look out for activities we can do that not only enrich our lessons, but allow us to engage with other homeschoolers in the area. Volunteering and giving back in our New Iberia community is important to us and we make sure to work local events into our schedules during the school year. 1. African American Heritage Exhibit
January 15, 2022
9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Celebrate MLK day by visiting this exhibit in Abbeville. A collection of historical photographs, writings and other information detailing the fight for the right to vote will be displayed until the end of February at the Abbeville Cultural Center.
2. Longfellow-Evangeline State Park StoryWalk
January 16, 2022
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
If you are looking to get the kids out and get some physical activity, here is a great way to do both! The StoryWalk at Longfellow-Evangeline State Park was installed by the St. Martin Parish Library and features the children's book I Love Autumn (J’adore L’automne) by Shelley Admont. You can walk along with the kids, get some physical activity and have the opportunity to read the story in both English and French. Regular admission fees to the park apply.
3. Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.

4.Toddler Tuesday
January 18, 2022
9:00 am - 10:00 am
Head over to Chic-fil-A in New Iberia for Toddler Tuesday! Join in the fun for crafts, snacks, and story time. This week's craft is cloud slime.
5. Night at the Movies - Jeanerette Branch
January 19, 2022
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join the Jeanerette location for movie night. Tonight the feature will be Knives Out rated PG-13. This event is open for ages 18 and up.
