Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends 3/3/22

Our Top 5 Picks Happening In and Around New Iberia This Week

By by Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia March 4, 2022

Hello March!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mardi Gras! But I am so ready for Spring!

I absolutely LOVE springtime in Acadiana! The festivals, the weather, and most important the crawfish! We do a lot of boiling over here with family and friends during the spring months. We make sure to enjoy each crawfish boil we do like it is the first one, eat as much as we can, and challenge our master boiler to add new things to the mix. Of course any leftovers we get to freeze for bisque, etouffee or stuffing to use in the winter months. It's a win/win for us!

Now if you are not a fan of crawfish or if you are just looking for an easy dinner night for one of those seafood Fridays we have coming up this Lenten season, check out our recipe for some easy fish stick tacos

Also, March 4th is a great day to unplug from the gadgets. Looking for ideas how to do this with the kids? Be sure to read 10 Ways to Get Away From Those Screens For National Unplugging Day and get some great ideas for things you can do in the New Iberia and surrounding areas. I know we rely so heavily on technology for personal and business, so its's become important that we each find a way to take a break from being so plugged in all the time.

Also, if you are looking for a new hobby then I have a GREAT recommendation for you! It's a chance to learn a new skill and be part of a community effort to create something special in downtown New Iberia. Bird on the Bayou is hosting a FREE, 3 week crochet class starting on March 8th. This is in anticipation of the crochet ceiling that is being created in Church Alley to replicate the one in our sister city of Alhaurin de la Torre, Spain. The crochet ceiling will be on display during the month of April as we celebrate our Spanish heritage here in New Iberia.

We are continuing to add events to the calendar this for the upcoming spring months so be sure to come back and check it out often! It is really so nice to see all the events coming back to our area and I know that I am not the only one happy about this!

Now, here are our top 5 recommendations for family fun this week:
