We have officially moved into the dog days of summer as we celebrated the Summer Solstice this week on 6/21/22. As the summer months continue to pass us by, be sure to keep coming back and checking our event calendar to stay up to date on the happenings in and around New Iberia.
If you are looking for some outdoor creative summer fun, how about some mega bubbles? This is a great activity to do for kids of any age! (Yes, big kids meaning mom and dad too!) This activity will keep them busy, keep their minds creating, and allow for some good time backyard fun!
Who's up for a parade? Besides the Summer Solstice this week, we have other astronomical events happening as well. If you are up for it, head outside tomorrow, Friday 6/24 about 30 to 45 minutes before dawn to see the planet parade! No telescope is needed to see the planets Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn line up in their true order! As a homeschooling parent, this is the fun type of stuff we incorporate into our learning during the year, but it also brings some true quality time with the kids. So be sure to get outside and do some early morning sky watching!
Most of us do a lot of outdoor grilling over the summer months. One of my favorite things to throw on the grill is corn on the cob! We usually grill up several batches of corn as it goes perfectly with everything else! If you are looking for some new ways to cook up some corn, be sure to read 4 Ways to Cook Corn On the Cob.
And finally, if you are into the paranormal like me, then you want to stay tuned to my upcoming series Ghost Hunting 101: A Paranormal Experience. I am so excited to be invited to an official paranormal investigation this weekend with Louisiana Spirits!
I will be joining the trained professionals of Louisiana Spirits and following along as they investigate and educate new investigators while at one of the historical landmarks on Main Street, The Sliman Theater. I will give a full report on my experience and what I learned during the event. Nothing like a good nighttime ghost hunt to keep cool over the hot Louisiana summer!
