Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends

Our Top Picks Happening In and Around New Iberia This Week

By by Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia June 30, 2022

It is the end of June and we are moving swiftly into July! I am looking forward to a long weekend, and celebrating Independence Day this coming Monday!

There are plenty of events planned over the weekend as well around our area. New Iberia will have its 4th of July parade on Monday, which is always a fun time on Main Street with the rest of the community. All of the Independence Day events happening this weekend are listed in my weekly recommendations fpr the week, so be sure to check the events calendar for details on the ones you want to attend.

I feel like I am hoarding watermelon. Seriously, I just can't get enough of the stuff this summer. If you are looking for some more watermelon recipes like me, check out the recipe for watermelon salsa this week.

Summer can offer somewhat of a slower pace for most families, but for me having twin teenage girls, I am still on the non-stop bus most days. Mealtime really is one of the only times we all sit together, in one place to talk about our day or upcoming events. I love this article that offers some tips for making mealtime fun with kids of all ages!

I am so excited to give you part two this week of my paranormal series, New Iberia Haunts: Ghost Hunting 101, A Paranormal Experience. I had so much fun doing this investigation, learned a lot about not only paranormal investigating but also more about the history of New Iberia. I am a history nerd so this type of stuff is right up my alley! If you are into this stuff like me, stay tuned because I plan on tagging along on some of the other investigations in New Iberia that the Acadiana Chapter of Louisiana Spirits will be doing over the next couple of months.

And of course, with a new month right at our doorstep, we have some fun holidays and events for you to find your family fun as we move into July giving us 10 Reasons to Celebrate in July. Hot dogs, UFOs and ice cream.... sign me up!

Now, on to our top recommendations for family fun this week:
