Did you get to see those peek-a-boo sun rays we had for a little while today? It has been so rainy and dreary that I made sure to go outside and bask in those rays for a bit!
I can not help but feel this could be the calm before the storm as we enter the last two months of hurricane season. Dealing with a hurricane anywhere along the Gulf Coast is stressful, costly, and damaging for so many of us. If you have not made preparations around your home or if you don't have solid evacuation plans, now is the time to get those things done.
On a happier note, we have another festival happening this week! The Gueydan Duck Festival kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday and you can get all the details on our calendar. If you are looking for more festival fun this fall, make sure to check out our 2022 Fall Food and Music Festival Guide. We have added several more events since it was released last week! If you know of any food and music festivals in New Iberia and the surrounding areas that we are missing, shoot us an email and let us know!
If you are in the need of a good laugh, because I certainly was this week, I have a video posted on our Facebook page that had me literally crying with laughter. Mommas, this video is not for those with weak bladders, so make sure to take a bathroom break before you watch it. I have watched it on repeat, and I laugh hysterically every time! This video is the epitome of mom life!
Tomorrow, August 26th is National Dog Day and as a dog momma to two fur babies, we love to give them some extra treats and cuddles whenever we can. Read all about how to Celebrate Your Favorite Dog With Homemade Treats and Pup Cakes this week. Let us know if you try one of the recipes!
Fall brings with it two of my favorite sports: volleyball and football! Our local area high schools are in full swing with sporting events happening all around our area this fall. You can bet I will be cheering loudly at the local volleyball games this year to support my teens! We have a few on our calendar, however, if you would like to have your school's game schedule added to our calendar, email us at mackidnewiberia@macaronikid.com! You can also submit events directly on our website. Supporting our local high school teams brings our families together, and our community together, and helps us teach our children what it means to be part of a team.
Bringing the kids to our favorite college football game or even to watch the Saints bang it out in the Superdome, we feel like we have planned the perfect day for family fun. And it can be for older children and teens, but what do you do with toddlers and littles who get bored or antsy when your favorite team is about to score? Get some tips this week on how to make sure you have it under control and read 7 Winning Strategies When Taking Kids To a Football Game.
I am a history buff and enjoy watching shows like Expedition Unknown to see all the archeological stuff they uncover while on the expeditions, especially in Egypt! Macaroni KID is happy to offer a family the trip of a lifetime with a fantastic giveaway! Read all about how you can enter the giveaway this week in our newsletter.
