Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends

Our Top Picks Happening In and Around New Iberia This Week

By by Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia November 18, 2022

It is officially time to countdown to turkey day! And that means of course no cooking until next Thursday right? Well, at least that is how many of us can feel as we head into Thanksgiving week!

With the Thanksgiving holiday, we will be moving our normal Thursday newsletter publishing schedule to Monday, November 21st. It will be our Thanksgiving Edition and it will be loaded with recipes and ideas you can use for the upcoming holiday. We will resume our normal publishing scheduled on Thursday, December 1st, and will be releasing our Holiday Guide for the Macaroni KID New Iberia area. If you would like to be a sponsor for this year's guide, let us know! Your business or organization will be featured in our weekly newsletters during the month of December, on our website, and on our social media pages.

Unfortunately, we have some nasty weather coming through this Saturday and that has led to the cancellation of some events that were scheduled in downtown New Iberia. The Bayou Bargain Pop-Up Shop, Junior Farmer's Market, and the Saturday ArtWalk have all been canceled. Of course, we still have holiday events happening over the next month that will allow you to support our local shops, so please consider still supporting our local stores and shops this holiday season.

Macaroni KID is an organization that is committed to inclusivity and cultivating a culture of diversity, equality, and inclusion and this was one of the biggest reasons I decided to become a Publisher for our area. We strive to highlight all aspects of our community, all families in our community, and all cultures. This week is Transgender Awareness Week, and if you know someone who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, we have an article that offers insight into how you can be an ally. While I understand this is a controversial topic for many, it is also a chance to learn about another part of our community and how we can support our youth in this particular sect. I have loved ones, family, and friends, who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and the thought of losing one of them to suicide or some violent act saddens me. This is why education and articles like this are key to supporting and fostering some level of harmony.

We have a fun leaf craft in this week's newsletter that is built around getting outside and being crafty with the kids. It is the perfect activity to do this fall, especially one day next week while the kids are home for Thanksgiving break.

With the holiday season upon us, many of us have family members who suffer from food allergies. This seems to be more prominent in today's environment than ever before. The holiday season is a time when we bring snacks and treats to our favorite teachers, coworkers, clients, and family parties. Read about ways you can support families who battle with food allergies to better prepare this season.

Now, on to our top recommendations for family fun this week:
