It's officially Mardi Gras season in Louisiana and the Queen City by the Teche, New Iberia, is ready to celebrate with the community for 2024!
The New Iberia Decorated Community is back with another home decorating contest in New Iberia this carnival season. When the pandemic shut down the parades and local celebrations, it was a welcomed site for the residents of New Iberia to see all the local homes and businesses decorating to show their Mardi Gras spirit with pride. Now, this event continues to excite residents each carnival season along side with the local festivals and parades around Acadiana.
To enter in this year's contest, we have the rules from the New Iberia Decorated Community here for you and the rules are simple:
1. Take photos of your home/yard and email them to markboyance@gmail.com or text them to 337-256-1938. The photos and addresses for the yard decorations will be posted to their Facebook page (without names). You can also upload your own photos directly to the page. However, if you do everyone on Facebook will know your address.
2. Only zip codes 70560 and 70563 can enter.
3. Deadline to submit photos to New Iberia Decorated is Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
4. Judges will pick the top 5 submitted photos and drive to those locations the following weekend to pick the Best 2024 New Iberia Mardi Gras Yard Decorations. Prize will include bragging rights for the Best 2024 New Iberia Mardi Gras Yard Decorations.
Once they begin receiving entries, we will create a map of the homes participating in this year's contest with New Iberia Decorated and list it below. Be sure to take a tour of the homes and of course, it's mandatory to have your favorite Mardi Gras music playing in the car!
