I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend! We did have some pretty big downpours last Friday and Saturday that caused some events around Acadiana to be canceled or postponed. You may be able to still find an Easter Egg Hunt or two if you check out our event calendar! But as we know April showers bring May flowers so the blooms waiting ahead next month should be beautiful!
We are full steam ahead into Spring as we roll into the middle of April this weekend. I am excited to be participating in the New Iberia Spring Craft and Health Fair this Saturday, April 15, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in City Park in New Iberia. There will be plenty of vendors, food trucks, health, and community resources, and activities for the kids. If you head out to the event, make sure to stop by and say Hi!
Are you a fan of anything apple? Applesauce, apple pie, apple spice cake, .. the list goes on. We have a great recipe for you this week to try for your next family dessert. It is a simple recipe and more than likely you probably have most of the ingredients already at home. Let us know if you give it a try.
Spring also means that those gardens and lawns need to be tended to. Mowing your lawn is a great form of exercise as well as a way to get outdoors and soak up some sun. It can also be a great way for your teens to earn some extra cash over the summer as well. However, if you would rather hire someone to mow your lawn, check out Five Tips for Choosing a Lawn Service Company.
As we begin to wrap up the 2022-2023 school year, many local teens will be looking for jobs this summer. This is a big deal for our kids as it gives them a sense of what it means to become an adult. We have a great article this week that offers tips for teens looking for summer work. As of this week, there are still a few local businesses hiring teens for summertime work. Check out the Isle of Iberia RV Resort and NIRD for requirements and deadlines to apply for open positions.
Speaking of summer, that means plenty of parents from New Iberia to Morgan City will be looking for summer camp options. We are working on our Summer Camp Guide now for the New Iberia area so stay tuned!
If you are a local business and interested in advertising your camp or sponsoring our guide this summer, please let us know! It is because of our sponsors that we are able to keep this platform free for our families in New Iberia. We also have a contest to announce this week: Your Best Summer Yet With MacKID's Summer Camp Picks + $500 Giveaway! You can enter to win the giveaway until May 11, 2023, so be sure to check out the rules and find out how you can enter.
