It's the first week of October, can you believe it? 

Many of us are waiting for the cool front headed to New Iberia this weekend and I know the sounds of the gumbo pots on the stoves will be sizzling all over Acadiana. 

Are you participating in a trunk-or-treat and looking for some decorating ideas? We did a poll with some of our publishers and have some great recommendations for your Halloween decorations this year. I saw some amazing setups last year at a few of the events we attended. 1. Louisiana Cattle Festival - Downtown Abbeville

Friday, October 6 through Sunday October 8

The Louisiana Cattle Festival is back for three days of fun on the streets of beautiful downtown Abbeville. Enjoy live music, a cattle show, cook off, parade, arts and crafts vendors, and more at this year's event. 


2. Breaux Bridge Citywide Garage Sale

Saturday, October 7, 2023
7:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Breaux Bridge Citywide Garage Sale and Outdoor Flea Market is back this October in Breaux Bridge. Over 80 home sales have been added, 2 flea markets, and arts & crafts areas with 50 plus vendors at each which will be located downtown Breaux Bridge in the Farmers Merchants Bank and Trust parking lot and in Parc Hardy.


3. Bikers on the Bayou Festival - Franklin

Saturday, October 7, 2023
9:00 am

The Bikers on the Bayou event is back this fall in historic downtown Franklin. The event is family-friendly and will offer live music, vendor market, black pot cook-off, and more.


4. The International French Bread Festival - Jeanerette 

Saturday, October 7, 2023
11:00 am

The International French Bread Festival is happening this October in Jeanerette. Enjoy music, food, a car show, kid's corner, community wellness programs, and much more.  


5. Nature at Night - Palmetto Island State Park - Abbeville 

Saturday, October 7, 2023
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the Louisiana State Parks Traveling Ranger at Palmetto Island State Park to learn about some of the things that go bump in the night. Meet at the Nature Center and make sure to wear your bug spray.
