Celebrate Women's History Month with Macaroni KID New Iberia

Do you know a phenomenal young lady in our community doing wonderful things?

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia March 7, 2024

March is celebrated annually as Women's History Month, with March 8 being International Women's Day. As a woman, a mother, and a small business owner... I know all to well about the demands that can be placed on women every day. Whether it's s taking care of young children or elderly parents, working outside the home, or simply figuring out what to cook every night for dinner, it takes a lot of stamina to be able to offer your time, talent and treasure back into your local community.

For our children, they are learning what it means to "grow up" while tackling major changes and impacts in our society, dealing with school and peer pressures, and yet there are more and more wonderful kiddos that are doing things at younger and younger ages to support our community and give back.

This March, Macaroni KID New Iberia is looking for stories about young women from our community to spotlight on our website and newsletter every Thursday. Each week we will do a profile article about this young woman, her accomplishments and involvement in the community, and celebrate what she does for our area.

This week, we are spotlighting one very personal for me, my daughter, Mikayla Barletto. Mikayla was chosen this year to be one of the four Louisiana 4-H national delegates for the 2024 - 2025 year and will represent Iberia Parish 4-H at the National 4-H Conference in Arlington, VA this April.

It's such a proud momma moment for me and I know there are other proud mommas, poppas, and grandparents out there would love to give a shout out to their kiddos. I'd like to feature a young lady from each parish that we cover so consider this the official call for nominations from our followers and subscribers!

If you have a story to share about a young lady in your life that you would like to see featured in our newsletters and website, send your stories to me at: mackidnewiberia@macaroinikid.com.
