"Schools out for summer!"

Even as I type the words, I still can't quite believe the last days of this school year are wrapping up this week. I know our kids are so excited but as parents we know that summertime brings the responsibility of planning for vacations, budgeting for special activities, or searching for ideas on what to do this summer.

I see parents on social media constantly posting asking for help, ideas, or recommendations. This is what Macaroni KID New Iberia is here to do! I hope to be able to bring more guides, resources, giveaways, and other information to each of you that can make it a little bit easier as you head into the summer.

We have the scoop on Memorial Day celebrations listed in our newsletter this week. Most of us mark Memorial Day as the kick-off of summer, but there is more behind this holiday weekend. If you are looking for ideas on how to celebrate and honor the Memorial Day holiday, 7 Ways to Honor Memorial Day with Your Children has some tips for you.

The Iberia Parish Library summer workshops kicking off next week! And this year adults will also have the chance to get in on the summer fun as the adult workshops are back for the first time since 2011. Read all about the upcoming events and how to get your name, or your child's name, on the registration lists.

Are you or is someone you know expecting? Naming your baby can be fun, yet stressful as you try to find the perfect name for your new bundle of joy. Get some ideas and find out what the top 10 names baby names are and see where your choice ranks.

We are still celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and have a list of books for all ages to diversify your child's book selection. Reading can offer a world of knowledge and allows kids to learn and understand different cultures.

And we have an easy watermelon and tomato summer salad recipe for you this week that can be added to your Memorial Day celebrations this weekend. Be sure to stay connected to our event calendar this summer as you plan out your family fun!

Now, on to our recommendations this week:
