Community Wellness is a new non-profit organization in Vermilion Parish that is looking to change the lives of families in the area. The program has been in existence for less than a year but has partnered with the Vermilion Women's Resource Center to provide health and wellness resources for the entire community.
Acting as the bridge for wellness gaps in the community, this new non-profit organization is ready to offer special events, resources, and other inspirational programs for families in Vermilion parish.
One of their first fundraising events is happening this weekend at Quality Sports Authority, at 12725 N Road in Erath, with proceeds from the event dedicated to benefit both Community Wellness and the Vermilion Women's Resource Center.

According to the Community Wellness website, "We will bridge the gap in the wellness system. Wellness is the outcome of consistently practicing healthy habits that improve your physical, mental, and spiritual state. When wellness needs are met, the community will be healthier, stronger, and more prosperous."
I spoke with Program Coordinator, Stephanie Anderson about the upcoming fundraiser happening this weekend in Erath. Stephanie is a certified fitness instructor and owns an all-women's fitness studio in Abbeville, Perfectly You Fitness. She is passionate about God, her family, and fitness. She is an active member of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce as well as the Abbeville Rotary Club.
She is excited to be planning this event, learning along the way, but looking forward to bringing the community together. According to Stephanie, there are over 40 players signed up for the event from several businesses and organizations in the area. A few of the groups will be looking to battle it out on the grass volleyball courts, like the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Department, the Abbeville Fire Department, and the Vermilion Junior Auxiliary group to name a few.
Details on the Volleyball Fundraiser Event this Weekend
Stephanie stressed that the game is open to anyone who wants to play, beginner level or advanced. The goal is to have fun while supporting the health and wellness programs they are building in Vermilion Parish. You must be at least 16 years and older to play on a team, so it gives families the opportunity to put together a team with their kids or friends and enjoy a little friendly competition.
There will also be activities for the kids, a car show, live music, arts and crafts vendors, and much more for attendees to enjoy. Plus, of course some live volleyball action!
