Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends: 5 Things To Do This Week!

Get the scoop on local resources and events happening this week from New Iberia to Morgan City

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia September 20, 2024

Hello Macaroni KID Families! What a week it's been!

I am happy that our families in St. Mary Parish are bouncing back from Hurricane Francine. I know many areas took a solid hit from the storm last week. I am happy that the storm did not affect us as originally predicted in New Iberia, but we still have about two months of hurricane season. We need to continue to stay prepared and be ready for the possibility of a storm in our area.

This week, I was back in the studio with Alex Worstell crafting up a few fun ideas for the kids to be creative at home. Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day so be sure to check out our pirate puppet craft from Good Day Acadiana this week. And don't forget to get your pirate name from our Pirate Name Generator quiz too!

We are smack in the middle of September already and this month is recognized as Library Card Sign-up Month. Find out why it is so important for kids to have their library card in Check This Out: 5 Reasons Your Kid Should Have Their Own Library Card. Having a library card is one of the first steps to independence for younger children to learn how to manage.

Fall officially is on the books as of next week and we have a few recipes to share with you. Apples are a staple of fall so here are a few recipe ideas to try this season in Celebrate Apple Season with These 5 Must-Try Fall Recipes. I'd love to know what your favorites are!

Now, on to more of our weekly recommendations for your free or low-cost family fun this week from New Iberia to Morgan City:
