By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia October 11, 2024

What a week!

With all that is happening in our world right now, I know it may be hard for some to digest the concept of celebrating at fall events or festivals. I am one of them. It's important that you make sure you have a healthy outlet for communication with a family member or friend. This week World Mental Health Day was recognized on October 10, 2024. Learn more about this day and find resources for you or your loved ones. It is important that we set an example for our children on how to mange our mental health with healthy strategies as well.

I want to thank the Loreauville Community Project for partnering with Macaroni KID New Iberia this week. The Pumpkin Patch is Back in Loreauville this October and we have all the details for you here. This is a fall favorite for families from the New Iberia and Loreauville areas. I attended the event a few years ago as a volunteer and enjoyed it. They are also looking for volunteers to help this weekend at the event. Be sure to check out the details on how you can get involved.

National Fire Prevention Safety Week is Oct. 6-12, 2024 and we have some great information for our parents this week. Make sure to check your fire alarms at home to make sure they are working properly. You can also check on resources at one of our local libraries or fire departments too.

It seems the norm now is to celebrate Halloween all month long from New Iberia to Morgan City! But let me tell you...  I am here for it! We have the details for all your family fun this week in our 2024 Halloween Family Fun Guide. Please share this on your socials and with family and friends! And if you head out to one of the events, please tell them you heard about it on Macaroni KID New Iberia.

I love roasting pumpkin seeds every October. I use them in crafts or I like to make my own sweet and salty snacks. We've got tips for you here on how to roast yours at home in Don't Toss Those Pumpkin Seeds! Here's How to Roast Them. Let us know if you give it a try.

And if you didn't hear the news, Good Day Acadiana will no longer be airing on News 15. I am so heartbroken for my friends at the studio. They made it such an amazing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed crafting on the show every other week with Alex. We have a fun and easy craft for your this week from the vault. We created Halloween Treat Bags: An Easy Halloween Craft for Kids to Make at Home last year for your Halloween party planning. We had Stacey Dempsey of The Frosted Apron join us as well with some easy sweet treat ideas that will be perfect for your parties this time of year. Get the details on fun treats and crafts you can make at home with the kids!

As for Good Day Acadiana, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I was so nervous the first time I got on camera but the team at Good Day Acadiana made it so easy for me! I just wanted to publicly acknowledge and thank Al Herbert, Alex Worstell, Scott Brazda, Adam Olivier, and all the crew behind the scenes for making the last two years such a memorable experience. You will all surely be missed by so many of us in Acadiana.
