Labor Day is around the corner and that means the 'ber months are almost here! From September to December, we are here covering the fun and important resources that local families in New Iberia, Abbeville, and Breaux Bridge may need. It is definitely one of the busiest times of the year for us as a whole!

I am excited to be back next year at the Community Wellness 2nd Annual Volleyball Jamboree next Saturday, September 7, 2025 in Abbeville. Find out about the event and make plans to come out and support these great causes for families in Vermillion parish. I'll be refereeing the volleyball games again and let me tell you, those folks are serious about playing those games! It's all in great fun, and it's not too late to get a team together, as entries will be accepted through September 1, 2025. If you're not interested in putting a team together, just come out and watch the games, enjoy the music, some food, and have a little fun with the kids.

1. Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival - Morgan City
All Weekend
The annual Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival is back for 2025, taking place from Thursday, August 28, 2025 through Monday, Labor Day, September 1, 2025. The festival is free to attend, however there will also be paid events throughout the weekend as well. Enjoy carnival rides, live music, royalty and children's parade, art show, a children's village, and more.
2. The Berry Queens Present: Beauties & Beauxs - New Iberia

The Berry Queens of New Iberia is back for Beauties & Beauxs this homecoming season to offer high school students the opportunity to shop for FREE homecoming attire. Teens can shop for dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry, ties and other accessories at no charge. First come, first served.
3. JA Jewels Homecoming Free Shopping Event - Abbeville

Get to shop for free at the JA Jewels Homecoming Event for Vermilion Parish high school students. The event is free to attend for all high school students to shop for the perfect homecoming outfit at NO cost! Everything about this event is free: entry, dresses, dress shirts/pants, jewelry, accessories, etc. There will be set times for shopping:
Girls Shopping Time: 10:00 am - Noon
Boys Shopping Time: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
All students must bring Student ID.
4. Remembering Francisco Bouligny - Downtown New Iberia

New Iberia is celebrating the founding of our city this Labor Day. The Remembering Francisco Bouligny event will kick off with breakfast at Pie Bar, and include a walking parade from the plaza to the Sliman Theater, presentations, and re-enactment of the arrival of the Spanish families in New Iberia. Free.
5. College Talk Series - Iberia Parish Library Main Branch - New Iberia

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The College Talk Series will provide information on college admissions, offer insights to the admissions process, and answer questions for those interested in pursuing enrollment. The first college in the series for the month of September will be Nicholls State University. There is no cost or registration requirements to attend.
