How You Can Support Solomon House in New Iberia

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia October 13, 2022

Being a part of the New Iberia community means coming together when we have a family in need. With the current economic climate today, now more than ever, many families are facing the weekly struggle of putting food on their table. That is where one local organization, Solomon House, comes in.

Solomon House, located in the heart of New Iberia on Center Street, has been in area for a little over 30 years. As a part of the outreach mission of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, the main goal of Solomon House is to provide food for those in our community who need it most. Solomon House not only serves as a food pantry for our residents in New Iberia, but also provides food products for other local charities in Iberia Parish such as St. Francis Diner, Our Lady of Victory Food Pantry in Loreauville, and St. Nicholas Food Pantry in Lydia.

I watched the community come together a little over a month to Restock the Shelves for St. Francis Diner after the news went viral that they had to shut their doors due to a lack of food and funds. Now, we have another opportunity to come together and support not only local residents in need but several other charities in our area as well.

So parents, get your babysitters lined up!

The biggest fundraising event of the year for Solomon House is happening Friday, October 21, 2022, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Magnolia Square. The event will feature tasty food from local area restaurants, live music, dancing, live comedy and a silent auction. The event will include a cash bar and tickets will be $45.00 per person.

Our local Homeschoolers on the Teche 4H group will be volunteering during the event but they can always use more volunteers!
