I was so excited for this week to get here! Mother's Day kicked off the week on Sunday, my birthday was Wednesday, and I was also celebrating my second anniversary as the Publisher of Macaroni KID New Iberia. I am so grateful for all of it!
I love being a part of Macaroni KID and the Publisher for New Iberia, especially since I get to create content, and work with local businesses and organizations that showcase all the amazing things and positive aspects of New Iberia. We truly have an amazing community here and I am so happy to be a part of it. Being able to create and participate in events that bring folks to our town to experience all the wonderful things that New Iberia has to offer is truly the best part.
Last Saturday, I got to meet the owners of Victor's Cafeteria and Thomas Falgout, the CEO of the Greater Iberia Parish Chamber of Commerce as we did another investigation with Louisiana Spirts. Let me tell you, it was a busy night! We are working on the article now to detail everything that happen so if you are following along with our New Iberia Haunts series, stay tuned for the release next week.
This week was our biweekly segment for crafting with Alex Worstell and The Morning Show on News 15, so I knew the perfect craft for us would be these Birthday Cake Gift Boxes. Be sure to get the details on this craft to create your own! We will be back on the show on May 31 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am with a fun craft to kick off the summer!
If you are looking for some summer fun snacks, then I have a tip for you! The same day of our morning crafting segment, we had another mompreneur from New Iberia on The Morning Show. She is a regular and I love watching her in action! Stacey Dempsey with The Frosted Apron was demonstrating her many talents with Al Hebert as they whipped up some fun, easy snacks for you to make for the kids over the summer break. Stacey has an event coming up next month at the Pie Bar at Cane River Pecan Company to celebrate Father's Day in New Iberia. One of our Macaroni KID Publishers shared her personal story and experience this week about the sandwich generation. I had never heard of this term before so the title definitely peaked my interest. According to this article, the term refers to the growing number of adults, typically in their 30s and 40s, who are caring for their aging parents while raising children of their own. I am sure many you reading this can relate to her story. It is a must read.
