Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends

Get the scoop on events, resources, and tips in New Iberia this week!

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia June 16, 2023

Is it hot enough for you? Man, we are in for a summer of all summers it seems with the rising heat in New Iberia. And it's only the middle of June! The temps are also rising on my 2023 summer series New Iberia Haunts and you can read all about what happened last month at The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce building on Main Street. This was one of the more active and intuitive investigations that I have been on yet with the team at Louisiana Spirits

Summer months are usually hectic for most of us as we shuffle the kids around town or try to find something to do while they are home wit us. Our Macaroni KID New Iberia calendar is full of workshops and free events for June and July so be sure to keep coming back and checking out the latest updates. We also have a great read for our parents this week 7 Summer Parenting Hacks to Help You Survive School Break. We can all use a few more hacks this summer, right?

As I was putting the final preparations on my newsletter for this week, I had an alert come across my phone that I wanted to share with you. It looks like Louisiana residents have been the target of a cyber attack at the state OMV offices possibly affecting their personal and proprietary information. Be sure to read the post on the governor's Facebook page and follow up on the steps that they are asking all Louisiana residents to be mindful of.

We did our Father's Day craft this week on News 15 with Alex Worstell and had a blast, per usual! It's great when you can take simple items from around the house and let the kids create their own masterpieces. We made these cute Father's Day scrolls out of popsicle sticks and also made images of our dads from cardboard rolls. Don't forget we also have the Father's Day printable on our website for you to download and give to Dad this Sunday.

Monday, June 19th is a federal holiday and a few events are happening this weekend to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. If you are looking to get a little more perspective on this holiday, read Juneteenth: A Day to Celebrate, Lift Each Other Up & Reflect and get some insight on how to celebrate this holiday with your kids.

If you are firing up the grill this weekend, then we have a recipe you must try! We have the details on how you can make your own Flash-Grilled Skirt Steak & Charred Tomato Salsa. Change it up and surprise dad with a grilled meal he doesn't have to cook.

And don't forget about the magical vacation giveaway happening from Macaroni KID for a Walt Disney World for four. You have until July 31, 2023 to enter. Now, on to our recommendations for your family fun this week:
