Get the scoop on local resources and events happening this week from New Iberia to Morgan City!

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia December 8, 2023

I've made a list... and checked it so many times!   Y'all... let me just say the list of holiday and Christmas events that are happening this month from New Iberia to Morgan City is growing every day!

I am truly amazed at this wonderful community of businesses and organizations that offer toy drives, food distributions, and so many family fun events for our community. Please ake sure to keep coming back to our event calendar every day to check out what's in store this month. With that being said, I also ask for you to double-check with the original providers before heading out since it seems the weather so far this month has not been cooperating with us for the weekends. Several events have either been postponed, rescheduled, or canceled due to severe weather predictions.

We have another fun craft this week to do with the kids! Check out the Easy Pinecone Gnome you can make at home. I love using the elements of nature for holiday crafts. Speaking of crafts, we will be back on the air next Wednesday, December 13, 2023, with Alex Worstell and News15 Today for another fun, inexpensive holiday craft, so be sure to tune in or catch us on their YouTube channel.

I don't know about you, but Christmas for us means plenty of cookies both store-bought and homemade. We have a great recipe this week for three holiday cookies that can easily become a family favorite. Let me know if you give one of them a try!

Tonight kicks off the celebration of Hanukkah and we have four families sharing their family's favorite Hanukkah traditions this week. In light of recent events in the world around us, it is meaningful to remember Hanukkah is a holiday that celebrates light, unity, resilience, and hope.

I am proud to be one of the sponsors for this year's New Iberia Decorated Best Christmas Decorations contest for the Best Business Decorations. We are updating the map each week for local families in New Iberia to enjoy a holiday drive around town admiring the festive lights. Egg nog anyone?

The time to enter the Unwrap the Ultimate Holiday Gift: Win A $250 Live Nation Gift Card giveaway is almost up! Make sure to enter for your chance to win before December 12, 2023!

Now, here are our top recommendations for this week:

We've made our list... and checked it MORE than twice! However, due to threat of severe weather in New Iberia again this weekend, several events have been rescheduled.
Please remember to check with the original venue/host before heading out for your holiday fun this December.
