Hello January! We have made it to 2024 and I am so excited to begin this new year with you!

It's winter in New Iberia and while folks around the country are dealing with snow days and icy temps, we are waiting to bundle up from head to toe to head out to the Mardi Gras celebrations that will be happening soon from New Iberia to Morgan City. Our 2024 Mardi Gras Guide will be released next week so be sure to stay tuned for all the details on your parade and carnival fun this season..

If you are looking for more events and holidays to celebrate this month, we have 9 Holidays and Events to Celebrate this Winter in New Iberia ready for you to go! From New Year's Day to pancakes, find out about the events you can enjoy this month with your friends, family, and our community.

Even though we are counting down the days to Mardi Gras in New Iberia, if you are a parent who is potty-training your littles, a parade calendar may not be on your to-do list right now but we have a solution for you! Check out How an Advent Calendar Helped Us Succeed at Potty Training this week for some ideas on your potty-training journey. I remember those day with my kids and I know it can seem like it will never happen, but it does and you will be so proud of your littles when it does.

We celebrated New Year's Day this week with family and friends eating the traditional cabbage dishes and black-eyed peas. I always look forward to this holiday because it offers a chance to recap the last year and revisit some things you may want to work on. If you are a visual person like me, then creating a Vision Board may just be the thing for you to get started on some new year's goals. Get some tips on creating one this week!

Did you know we have 63 national parks? If you are planning a trip this year to visit any of them, make sure to read 6 Fee-Free Days at National Parks in 2024. These days happen from January to November, so there is plenty of time to make plans to enjoy a fee-free day with your family this year.

One of the biggest resolutions for many with the start of a new year are creating healthier choices. We always have classes at our local libraries from yoga to Zumba to help get you in gear! But if you are like me, healthy eating can be challenging when you are on the go with the kids. Check out 3 Jar Salads That Make Healthy On-The-Go Eating Easy to get you on track this January.

Now, here are our top recommendations for your family this week:
