This week we went from freezing to humid to flooding in the blink of an eye! The weather is surely making itself known to us in New Iberia as we move further into the new year, that's for sure! We've had several events on our calendar canceled, postponed, or rescheduled due to the inclement weather in our area, so be sure to check with the original venues before heading out this weekend to any events.
Our bi-weekly crafting segment was this week and we created simple, cute Mardi Gras Paper Plate Masks with Alex Worstell on Good Day Acadiana. I was afraid I was going to have to use a scuba mask to make it to the studio, but thankfully it all worked out. This is a fun rainy day activity that you can do with your kids if you are stuck indoors this weekend. Make some masks with the kids to keep the spirit of carnival alive!
As the winter season goes on in southeast Louisiana, we know that our days can go from 70 degrees to 30 degrees with the drop of a hat. We wake up with the air conditioning running only to turn the heat up later in the day. But this time of year is usually a slow time with events, other than parades and Mardi Gras balls, and if you are not a fan of Mardi Gras, what can you do to keep the kids occupied? Well, we have put together a list of low-cost attractions from New Iberia to Morgan City that you can do with the kids. We are also at the midway point for school and many students are celebrating the 100th day of school this month. We tend to celebrate the beginning of the school year and the end of the school year with ease. Our kids are working hard during the year and making it to the 100th day of school should be a celebration too. Make some memories and get a few tips on how you can celebrate with them this month.

Support the Acadiana Spay Neuter organization and local pets in Iberia Parish during this Valentine's fundraiser event. Bring your pet to make paw print art or take pictures for Valentine's fun! The fundraiser will run from January 15, 2024 through February 9, 2024 at the Acadiana Spay Neuter location on weekdays only. Proceeds from this event will go towards the Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Program to support pets in our community who need access to essential veterinary care.
