March is celebrated as Women's History Month and tomorrow, Friday, March 8 is International Women's Day and we are want to celebrate local young women in our area doing big things. Do you know of a young lady in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, or Vermilion Parish? Send us her story! This week, I am proud to say I am celebrating! Not only as a member of the community but simply as a proud momma. This week, our spotlight is on my daughter Mikayla, and her appointment to the 2024 - 2025 National 4-H Delegates. She is the first-ever student selected from Iberia Parish to represent the Iberia Parish 4-H program at the 2024 National 4-H Conference this April. I couldn't be more proud of her and watching her grow into a wonderful young woman has been such a blessing and privilege. Congratulations Mikayla on your appointment!
March is also National Nutrition Month and we have a great article this week on 5 Healthier Choices Your Family Can Make In the Kitchen. Many people try to start the new year with healthier resolutions, but in all honestly, the first two months of the year just make many folks want to hibernate and snack! Not to mention in New Iberia and although Acadiana our new year usually begins with plenty of king cake. This article will give you a few simple tips on how to make your family's meals a little more healthier.
We did our bi-weekly craft with Alex Worstell this week and crafted some Easter fun. Find out how to make your own Easter Egg Door Decor with the kids to celebrate this season. Easter isn't until the end of the month so you'll have plenty of time to decorate.

2. Heartstrings and Angel Wings - 14th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off - Henderson

The annual Heartstrings and Angel Wings Gumbo Cook-Off is happening in Henderson this March. Join the fun with live music, food, a silent auction, and activities for the kids. Children's activities start at 12 Noon until 3:00 pm. Gumbo tasting opens at 3:00 PM and music begins at 2:00 pm.
3. Sweetheart Daddy Daughter Dance - Franklin

The Hanson Memorial High School Cheerleaders are proud to announce the upcoming Sweetheart Daddy Daughter Dance this March in Franklin. Daughters and their dates are invited to enjoy dancing, music, finger foods and treats and create a memorable night with their dads, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figure in their life. Tickets can be purchases in advance or at the door.
