May the fourth be with you... Oh wait, that's next month! But for all the science and STEM geeks like me, we do happen to have an event happening this month that you may have already heard about.
The total solar eclipse will occur next week on Monday, April 8, 2024, and we crafted some science fun on Good Day Acadiana. It's a fun and easy craft to make with the kids using items around the house. Find out what you need and how to make your own pinhole projector before the big event.
With the spring weather here, many of you are ready to clean out the garden beds and get planting! We have community gardens like the Iberia Community Garden where you can volunteer or purchase fresh produce. But if you would like to start your garden at home with the kids, we have a great article to highlight this week: Dig In: 3 Themed Vegetable Gardens Kids Will Love to Grow ... and Eat.
The Greater Iberia Chamber is back with their restaurant selection of the month. Find out where the next meet-up is and make plans to attend. It is a great way to network with the community and support our local restaurants. You don't have to be a member of the chamber to join in.
The parent's meeting for the new AHSA Commandos homeschool volleyball team was this week and we had a great turnout! However, there is always room for more kids who may be interested in joining. If you are a homeschooling family or know of one please make sure to tell them about the upcoming tryouts happening later this month.
We also have a personal article from one of our Louisiana publishers. Read about Missy's family and the life-changing experience with her granddaughter in Heartbreak to Hope: One Family Shares the Power of Organ Donation.
Now, on to our recommendations this week:
