Helllllooo Summer! 🌞
I got my first sweet taste of summer today from Cool Scene with the kids, and the dogs, as we all enjoyed our snowballs and pup cups with a full afternoon of sun ... FINALLY! I don't know what's been up with this weather but I am ready for a break from the storms, and so are our friends in the Henderson and Breaux Bridge areas of St. Martin Parish.
Many are still cleaning up after the floods and storms from this past weekend. Not to mention both of our outdoor attractions in Iberia Parish. Rip Van Winkle Gardens and Jungle Gardens, were hit hard as well. Both announced on their Facebook pages earlier this week they were cleaning up from extensive damages and would be closed for a bit. I believe Jungle Gardens re-open yesterday. However, Rip Van Winkle is still closed. If you'd like to donate to Rip Van Winkle, they have set up a GoFundMe Me account. Right now they are not asking for clean-up help on the property from anyone other than employees due to safety concerns.
Now that summer break is here, parents are looking for ideas, camps, fun crafts, and other things to keep their kiddos occupied. I've been adding events to our calendar and Summer Camp Guide all week, with plenty more to go. Be sure to come back and check both our calendar and Summer Guide frequently for your summer plans in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion parishes. Also, please share our summer camp guide with others that you know! I greatly appreciate the shares, likes, comments, and tags I receive from followers. It makes my heart smile.
We also released our Summer Feeding Program Guide this week which details all the programs happening in our area. Each program is set up to ensure all children have access to wholesome meals and nutrition during summer break and help parents who may be struggling in this economy.
Father's Day is just around the corner and we have fun printable to share with you. The kids will love to give this to dad on his big day! I bet the kids will enjoy writing about their favorite guy!
We also have one of my favorite summer crafts from last year to share with you this week. It's National Aquarium Month so if you can't make it to the nearest aquarium, bring the aquarium home to the kids and create these Fish Tank Paper Plates craft this summer.
And finally tomorrow, June 7, is National Donut Day so be sure to check the local shops for donut deals tomorrow! If not, you can always make these 2 Ingredient Drop Donut Holes Kids Will Love at home.
Now, on to our weekly recommendations for your family fun this week:
🍩❤️🍩 We've got a few chuckles for you to share with your kids to celebrate National Donut Day!🍩❤️🍩 Why did the donut go to the dentist? Because it needed a chocolate filling! How do you know if a donut is feeling sad or tired? Its eyes glaze over. What happened to the donut who played golf? He got a hole-in-one! Image by Fascinadora from Getty Images Pro |
