Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends: 5 Things To Do This Week!

Get the scoop on local resources and events happening this week from New Iberia to Morgan City!

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia June 14, 2024

We're heading into the middle of June so let's get right to the scoop for our Macaroni KID New Iberia families this week!

Father's Day is this weekend so be sure to celebrate the dads in your life. If you are searching for a fun craft that the kids can make for dad, I have a great one for you! We crafted these 3D Father's Day cards this week with Alex Worstell on Good Day Acadiana. I loved making our puzzle card!  Find out what you need to make yours.

Summer is well.. summering! If this is your favorite season, I bet you have enjoyed this week. Summer also brings the start of hurricane season, and I connected with Meteorologist Adam Olivier for some insight on the predictions for the 2024 Hurricane season. Be sure to read Be Prepared for Hurricane Season from New Iberia to Morgan City to keep your family safe.

How do you feel about goodie bags? You know the ones you make for your kid's friends when they attend birthday parties? I have spent some major hours shopping, stuffing, and organizing goodie bags in my time as a mother. One of our publishers explained why she thinks it's time for the goodie bags to go. Read why she thinks goodie bags are annoying and why we should stop doing them. I'd love to know if you agree!

I've seen some crazy videos of folks in other parts of the country literally running from their homes or offices with plastic bags over their heads trying to escape the dropping cicadas from the sky. I thank God every day we do NOT have that issue in New Iberia. But, one of our publishers came up with a culinary treat: Cicada Cookies! Even if you're not interested in eating them, find out how this mom turned these insects into a treat for her family.

Now, on to our weekly recommendations for your family fun this week:

Be sure to celebrate all the dads in your life this weekend! Create a 3D Father's Day card to show him how much you love him!
