Hello August!
The summer break is dwindling away and families from New Iberia to Morgan City are getting ready to return to school. We've updated our 2024 Back to School Guide with several more events since the release last week, so be sure to check it out for supply giveaways and other family fun happening in our area this week.
Besides heading back to school, we have a new month and that means new holidays, events, and causes you can recognize with your kids this month. Here are 8 August Days, Causes, and Events Not To Miss this Month. Find out how you can get in on the celebration!
One of the causes this month is centered around our local community health centers. The St. Martinville CHC is holding several events to support our youth and the community. Calling all book lovers! Last year we did one of my favorite crafts with Alex Worstell to celebrate National Book Lovers Day. Find out how to make your own book purse with a few crafting items and an old book! Be sure to tune in next Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 7:00 am to 9:00 am as we craft more fun with Alex on Good Day Acadiana.

4. Back to School Community Fair - McKerall O'niell Community Center - Franklin

The 100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish and Healthy Blue ( Blue Cross/BlueShield) are proud to present the Back to School Community Resource Fair in Franklin this August. Participants will enjoy lunch, free hair cuts for boys, free school supplies, community resources, fellowship and more.
5. Community Health Fair - St. Martinville CHC

In collaboration with the Back to School Supply Drive and to celebrate National Health Center Week, the St. Martinville CHC will be holding a patient appreciation day and Community Health Fair. Attendees will enjoy live music, door prizes, giveaways, food, games and activities for the kids and more. There will also be other community partners in attendance to provide resources and information as well as free health screenings.
