Hurricane Helene destroyed many parts of the South as she ravaged several states from Florida to North Carolina. We know all too well the effects of hurricanes living in New Iberia. You expect that living on the Gulf Coast. But you don't expect it in Asheville, North Carolina. My brother lives in Asheville, and for several days, we were unsure if he was alive. It is tragedies like this that quickly put your life in perspective.
We finally heard from him late Sunday. Let me tell you what relief that brought. I've put most of my energy this week into making sure he is safe and helping him with any resources and information I can find. In doing that, several publications like our 2024 Halloween Family Fun Guide will be delayed. Be sure to stay tuned as I am working on adding the trunk-or-treat events and pumpkin patches happening from New Iberia to Morgan City on the event calendar. I hope to have the guide completed by the weekend so stay tuned!

Our family is involved in the Iberia Parish 4-H program. I also served as a judge at the Iberia Parish 4-H Sugary Cookery Contest during the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival last week. I had a blast! We had tables of dishes prepared by students from Iberia Parish students. Next week is National 4-H week and we have the details to share with you on how to get involved in your local club.
