Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends

Get the details of local events, resources, and family fun in New Iberia this week!

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia May 5, 2023

We are getting ready for Mother's Day and have free printables, crafts, and more happening over here at Macaroni KID New Iberia this week!

We did our bi-weekly segment yesterday with Alex and News 15 and demonstrated these easy, fun crafts that the kids can do for mom to celebrate Mother's Day next weekend. I realized when I got to the studio that I did not have my crafts to display on air. Total Mom-brain right? So, we got busy with Alex and made some new ones on the spot!

The crafts are easy and use basic craft supplies as well as a few other household staples. Be sure to get the details of how to make your own paper plate garden and/or pen flower holder for Mother's Day

Did you know that Wednesday was recognized as National Paranormal Day? We had so much fun last year with Louisiana Spirits participating in the paranormal investigations around New Iberia that we are back at it for 2023! We released our first article for the New Iberia Haunts series yesterday. Make sure to read all about what happened in this investigation of a private residence in New Iberia. If this is your jam and you would like to attend a class and investigate with the team, they have a class and investigation planned for June 17 and still have a few spots left. Note: Participants must be 18 years of age and older to join.

We are working behind the scenes to gather up the details for our Summer Camp Guide right now. If your organization has summer camp, day camp or other event planned for our youth this summer and would like to be a part of the guide, please contact us! You can expect that to be released later this month. We do have a program happening in New Iberia this summer with TECHE project for local youth. Get the details on the GEAUX Paddle Workshop and other programs with TECHE Project here

Parents, if you have daughters then you know as they approach their teen years, being able to talk openly about what is happening with their bodies is so very important. If you are looking for some tips on how to talk to your daughter about her period we have a great article for you this week. We love that our Publishers work together to create content like this to keep our parenting skills on point! It takes a village, right?

Don't forget we have a summer camp giveaway happening right now (you have until May 11, 2023, to enter), but we also have a discount for Camp Invention for those who have children that may be interested in a STEM summer camp. I checked on the locations finder and we have several around Louisiana, including Youngsville and Metairie. Check it out!

Now, on to our recommendations for your family fun this week:
