Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends: 5 Things To Do This Week!

Get the scoop on local resources and events happening this week from New Iberia to Morgan City

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni Kid New Iberiab March 15, 2024

It sure has been a windy day in New Iberia this Thursday! As I did my final preps for this week's newsletter and added more Easter events to our calendar, I was watching the wind rip through the trees in my yard. We do have some more inclement weather expected for the weekend, so before heading out to the many events from New Iberia to Morgan City, be sure to check with the original host to make sure the event has not been canceled or rescheduled.

We have another spotlight student to recognize this week to celebrate Women's History Month. Join me in congratulating Aline Gachassin and Aline's Amazing Lemonade Stand for all her efforts to give back to our community in New Iberia. Aline is only ten years old and has been doing her lemonade stand since she was three! I would surely say that is amazing! Read all about her efforts and find out why this annual event has become a staple in New Iberia since 2017. We still have two more weeks to take your stories about local young women in our community to recognize them for Women's History Month this March. And I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Chick-fil-A New Iberia for sponsoring our selected spotlight winners this month. Each chosen student spotlight will receive a free meal coupon from Chick-fil-A New Iberia

Time has officially changed this week (yawnnnn) and we are counting down the days until the Spring Equinox next week. It will officially be spring in New Iberia at 10:06 pm on Tuesday, March 19. If you are searching for some fun spring activities, check out 10 Ways to Spring Into Fun: Outdoor Adventures with Your Kids. We also have a great recipe for you to try as we officially move into spring next week, Make Your Own Spring Rolls for a Simple No-Cook Meal. It's quick, healthy, and full of veggies!

I am so excited to announce this week the new AHSA Commandos Homeschool Volleyball Team for the 2024- 2025 year. I am an avid volleyball lover and former player and the news of our homeschool community in Acadiana finally getting a volleyball team makes me truly happy. I will be part of the team helping to coach the students and we have all the official information about this new team on our website. Homeschooling families interested in joining us can get all the details in our article Announcing the AHSA Commandos Home School Volleyball Team in Acadiana. Please share with everyone you know whether they are homeschoolers or not. The team will be actively seeking donations, sponsors, and volunteers to make this a huge success.

Do you know what next week is? It is finally time for the first-ever Cajun Country ParaCon in New Iberia! I have been waiting for this since last July! We still have a few days for our subscribers to enter to win two general admission passes to the event so make sure you enter to experience the first ever paranormal conference happening in New Iberia.

We are sharing one of our favorite Easter crafts we did on Good Day Acadiana last year with Alex Worstell. Find out how to Pass the Salt and Get Creative This Easter with your kids. We will be back on Good Day Acadiana next Wednesday March 20, 2024 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am to get crafty with Alex Worstell and a few special spootacular guests. Make sure to tune in!
