Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends: 5 Things To Do This Week!

Get the scoop on local resources and events happening this week from New Iberia to Morgan City!

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia April 19, 2024

We celebrated Earth Day this week with Alex Worstell on Good Day Acadiana for our latest children's craft segment. Earth Day has become a much bigger deal and celebration in recent years, especially in Louisiana with Love the Boot week which kicks off on April 20, 2024. There are several events from New Iberia to Morgan City that you can sign up to volunteer at with your kids happening throughout the next week.

It's the perfect time to talk about important environmental issues with your family like recycling, and what it means to go green, and instill in them the concern we should all have to save our planet from any more harm. Our recycled magazine flower garden craft this week is fun, and creative, and offers a great way to begin a conversation with your kids.

We released our 2024 Spring Festival Guide last week and several new events have been added. This is one of the best times to visit Louisiana so make sure to share this article with someone who may be interested in traveling to our state this spring. We will continue to add more events over the next couple of months.

Speaking of spring festivals, we know the foodies love our festivals for the creative Cajun dishes our area festivals offer. But if you like the fair goodies like funnel cake, we have a great recipe this week for you. Try these 5 Classic Fair-Inspired Delights You Can Make At Home.

April is also recognized as Autism Awareness Month and we have a great article from one of our publishers sharing her journey with autism, Embracing Difference: The Journey of Autism Awareness and Acceptance. It offers insight into understanding what autism is and how you can teach your children to embrace diversity.

We are slowly wrapping up April and moving into May which means the end of the school year, proms, graduations, and of course, Mother's Day will be right around the corner. We have a fun quiz for our moms to try this week Which TV Mom Are You? I got Claire Dunphy from Modern Family and I love it! Be sure to share this with all the moms you know!

Now, on to our recommendations this week:
