Macaroni KID New Iberia Recommends: 5 Things To Do This Week!

Get the scoop on local events, resources, and parenting tips in and around New Iberia this week

By Tracie Ysaguire, Publisher for Macaroni KID New Iberia September 8, 2023

We are well into September folks! Can you believe it? It's still rather hot outside, but if you've noticed there has been a somewhat drop in the temps over the last week which means we are moving closer and closer to fall and I am so excited for fall to finally get here! This week we have plenty of local news to share from a few of our sponsors and I am so excited to be working with each one of them.

September is honored as Self Improvement Month and if you are like me, the busyness of being an adult and a parent can sometimes get in the way of working on the things we need to improve. This month is perfect to schedule in some YOU time. I am happy to bring you information on an upcoming class on mindfulness being offered by Susan Buller with Bayou Lotus Wellness. Susan will be offering an 8-week class for adults that offers the opportunity to learn more about mindful practices and stress reduction techniques. The class begins next week and is still accepting participants. Find out how you can sign up for the upcoming class in Mindfulness Can Help Reduce Stress and Increase Overall Wellbeing.

Macaroni KID New Iberia has also partnered with the Morgan City Petting Zoo this year to promote the upcoming Fall Fest in November. Less than an hour from New Iberia, you can make plans to spend the day with the cute and furry animals at the zoo. Find out about the event, how to become a sponsor, and all the other wonderful opportunities that the Morgan City Petting Zoo offers.

Speaking of Morgan City, Ghosts of Morgan City is one of my all time favorite paranormal shows that was released in June of 2019. If you enjoyed the show, now have the opportunity to meet some of the paranormal celebrities from the show at the first ever Cajun Country Para Con in March 2024. The Cajun Country Para Con will feature local vendors as well as Travel Channel, Netflix, and YouTube paranormal stars. Be sure to read about it and share this with everyone you know!

We are working behind the scenes with Louisiana Spirits for the upcoming para-con happening in New Iberia next year at The Sliman Theatre on Main Street. We want to make this a huge success for New Iberia and Louisiana Spirits is still looking for sponsors to help with the event. Find out about becoming a sponsor for New Iberia's first ever Cajun Country Para Con

We are also celebrating Grandparent's Day in this week's edition. Sunday is Grandparent's Day and we had a blast crafting some adorable gifts with Alex Worstell on News 15 Today on Wednesday.

We made three simple crafts on the show that you can do with the kids at home. Find out all about them and what you need to make them in Grandparent's Day is Sunday and We're Crafting to Celebrate Them!

We shared an amazing nacho recipe a few weeks back and I am back with another one this week...using apples! I love apples and so do my kids. Find out about these caramel apple nachos for your next family gathering or movie night.

Now, on to our recommendations for your family fun this week:
